1999 Z3 Coupe | Cosmos Black | Walnut

1999 BMW Z3 Coupe | Cosmos Black | Walnut | DSII Style 39 Wheels

This Z3 Coupe was posted for sale on anibis.ch in Langenthal, Switzerland with 156,000 km (96,934 miles) for 9,700 CHF (~$10,665 USD). This sunroof delete Coupe caught me eye thanks to the DSII (Style 39) wheels, which I don’t remember seeing on a Coupe before. Interestingly, Felgen Katalog lists them as “M Double Spoke II” as an option for Z3 Roadsters and Coupes, with the exception of the M Roadster and Coupe. I suppose that could apply to markets outside of North America, given that individual color options were available. M 3 spoke steering wheels and M shift knobs can be found in many (if not all) Z3s beginning in 2000, so the fact that the DSII wheels are M doesn’t mean much. The seller lists a number of mods including PowerFlex bushings, H&R sway bars, and Hartge suspension. In the photos you can see some sort of aftermarket BMW roundels or decals, along with a Panasonic head unit.

2000 M Coupe | Titanium Silver | Black

2000 M Coupe | Titanium Silver | Black | Style 163 BMW CSL Wheels

This M Coupe was posted on bmw5.co.uk by alpinaman. It’s mostly stock with the exception of the 2001+ curved monochromatic M badge on the hatch, short antenna, black and white BMW Roundel, M Coupe decals on the rear windows, and of course the 19″ Style 163 CSL wheels (19″ x 8.5″ ET44 27.8 lbs, 19″ x 9.5″ ET27 30.4 lbs). Although I shouldn’t be, I was somewhat surprised at the weight of the 19 ” CSLs compared to the stock 17″ M Style 40 Roadstars which weigh 21.1 lbs and 24.2 lbs. When you figure in the added weight of 19″ tires, that’s a significant increase. My assumption would be that Coupe Sport Lightweight would shed weight all around, regardless of an increase in size to the wheels. With an increase of 6.7 lbs front and 6.2 lbs rear, my assumption was clearly wrong. Regardless of the increased weight, I do like the look of the CSLs. I think they’d look even better on this Coupe with a decrease in ride height with a set of coilovers.

2000 M Coupe | Alpine White | Gray/Black

2000 M Coupe | Alpine White | Gray/Black

This M Coupe was listed for sale by Car One in Santa Monica, CA for $19,995 with 106,094 miles. This was actually listed back in December, but I just stumbled across it on Craigslist now. Based upon the Carfax, it’s always been a California car, and has been dealer maintained. It was sold at auction 6/24/11 with 106,093 miles, so based upon the currently listed miles (106,100 in the photo below), it hasn’t really been driven since it was sold at auction. I imagine the price is a bit of a turn of to potential buyers. It’s not all that high for the rareness of the Coupe (1 of 9 Alpine White over Gray/Black), but for with 100k miles, it likely turns off buyers. 100k+ really isn’t much of an issue for any of the Z3/M engines (my S54 has nearly 115k and is going strong, and my previous M52 had 122k with no issues when I sold it), but there is a bit of a psychological barrier for a 12 year old car and that mileage. I’ve mentioned it many times, but white is such a great color on Coupes, and quite rare with only 103 (3.6%) AW M Coupes sold quite uncommon.  The Dark Gray leather is also very nice, and from the photos looks like it is in excellent shape for the mileage. It appears to be all stock.
