1999 M Coupe | Arctic Silver | Press Photo

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6122/5938049742_52c89e94c1_z.jpg

I stumbled across this BMW M Coupe press photo on a random website during my regular searching for post content. I don’t remember seeing this shot before, so I thought it was worth posting. The quality of the image isn’t very good. That could be a function of the site I found it, the film (I’m guessing it was shot with actual film), or the editing process. Regardless, I like the composition of the photo. Given the low quality of the image it is hard to identify much detail. It looks like the Roadstars are Hyper Silver, and it seems like the M badge on the side grille is flat. The headlights aren’t detailed enough to identify if they have chrome trim rings, although the kidney grille slats almost look to have chrome on the leading edge. That said, I still think this is most likely a 1999 but I’m not sure if it would have an S50 or S52 under the hood. I would guess that like many of the other press photos it’s a Euro M Coupe with an S50.

1999 M Coupe | Arctic Silver | Imola/Black

1999 M Coupe | Arctic Silver | Imola/Black | Pistonheads.com

This M Coupe is listed for sale on pistonheads.com by Classic Heroes with only 22,000 miles for £16,950 (~$27,300 USD). The Coupe appears to be all stock. I’m surprised that the dealer doesn’t seem to be very informed or observant. They list the car as Titan Silver (which BMW actually calls Titanium Silver), when it is really Arctic Silver. Titanium Silver was not available until 2000, when Arctic Silver was phased out. They also mention that it has a 6 speed, when all Z3/Ms were sold from the factory with a 5 speed (although it is possible that a 6 speed was installed later, but quite unlikely). It’s odd for a dealer to overlook these details, but maybe my expectations are just too high. I dunno. The color combo is a fairly rare one for the US with only 30 sold in 1999, 22 of which have a sunroof, I’d imagine it’s even less common for a RHD M Coupe.

S52B32 M Coupe | Silver

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5034/5881892201_62606d92f0_z.jpg

This M Coupe was posted on flickr.com by dylankingphotography. Last month I posted another M Coupe he photographed. This photo, like the other, was taken in his hometown of Vancouver. Not a lot is visible that can be used to identify the year, color, or interior, but I liked the photo and wanted to share it. The one thing that can be determined is that it is an S52, based upon the flat M badge on the hatch, along with what looks like Hyper Silver Roadstars. Given that there were 276 Arctic Silver, and 544 Titanium Silver M Coupes, odds are that it is the latter. 354 of the Titanium Silver M Coupes were from the 2000 model year, which given the flat M badge this must be a 1999 or 2000. The Coupe appears to be all stock.
