1999 M Coupe | Estoril Blue | Estoril/Black | South Africa Hamann

This M Coupe was posted for sale on gumtree.co.za in Port Elizabeth, South Africa with 111k km (68,972 miles) for R175,000 (~$21,786 USD). I think most interesting about this Coupe is that there are said to be only ~40 South African Z3 M Coupes imported, all of which were fitted with AC Schnitzer parts. This Coupe shows not ACS parts, but Hamann. The Hamann hatch spoiler, Hamann side grilles and Hamann fog lights are mods not often seen, let alone in combination. They certainly change the look, with the addition of the 20″ wheels, this Coupe looks different than most. While I’m certainly of the opinion “to each their own”, I don’t know that the wheels compliment the Coupes design. The large, angular, narrow spokes, and oversize diameter just seem out of place. The rear wheels have an odd offset and/or width which pulls them inward several inches leaving a large gap between the fender and the wheel (easily resolved with spacers though). The front and rear tires don’t match, which is odd for what appears to be a non-staggered setup. Luckily, any or all of this could easily be reversed back to stock, or changed to suit the new owners taste. Although the Hamann spoiler is mounted with screws, which would require some additional work to return it to the OE hatch design. In the sellers favor is low number of M Coupes in South Africa, so if a buyer is interested in one, there aren’t a lot of options.

Those are actually AC Schnitzer Type Vs, produced when the company completely lost its way.

Really?! That’s bizarre. They look nothing like the popular ACS wheel designs. Thanks for the info!

This will be an S50 MCoupe, there are a fair number of these. The rare (only 40 imported) is the S54 that were all given the ACS treatment. Like mine;)

Living in South Africa and watching which coupes are for sale, this was definately in the top ugliest coupes for sale. The only thing it has going for it is the Estoril blue. I saw this car go up for sale and was dissappointed. The 40 last coupes with the ACS extras looks super sexy, this is not one of them. This looks rough. The 40 limiteds unfortunately didn’t have the hot S50B32, it also had traction control aids…
