In November of last year I was heading to SEMA early on Friday morning.  It was still dark out, and I was about 45 minutes north of home, 13 miles outside of Wickenburg, AZ on US-93. About 6:30 in the morning a deer ran in front of my car while I was cruising at 70 mph. Collision was unavoidable, and I hit it as it ran across the freeway. It bounced off the drivers side of the hood and past the mirror. I received a check from insurance for $10k to repair all of the damage. They didn’t pay to repaint the whole car, but it’s what was really necessary to make it look right.

I made the best of the situation, and the 20 weeks it was in the shop, to rebuild my rear Kinesis K58s from 9″ to 11.5″. While it was under the knife, I had the front corner markers shaved, along with the rear wiper I had previously just plugged, and the license plate bracket. I’ve wanted to shave the license plate bracket from my Coupe since I saw Rob Tivadar’s (Silverspooler on BFc) M Coupe in 2008. I couldn’t bite the bullet on the bodywork until now. I even bought a spare hatch to use in 2009, but it was delivered damaged with the box torn wide open and I refused delivery. After the wreck, I figured why not?! Still working on a permanent plate mount, but I’ve had it up in the rear window since I got my Coupe back. So happy with the way it looks!
